The challenges are manifold – from building a streaming platform for classical music to a very ambitious D2C strategy including e-commerce, app’s, CRM tooling to a variety of advanced data products. This role will be crucial to connect the dots and to design solutions for a perfect product/market fit.
Here’s your chance to shape our future together with us! We’re looking for a (Senior) Principal Engineer (all genders) to become part of our Tech team “Beats & Bytes” at our Headquarters in Berlin. It will be a permanent full-time position reporting directly to the CTO.
Your tasks: 
  • You lead the definition of the system architecture and technology strategy for Universal Music in partnership with engineering, product and business leaders
  • You will drive continuous improvements to engineering practices, e.g., developer productivity, delivery quality and operational excellence
  • You design highly scalable processes, systems and services to enable Universal Music’s ambitious D2C strategy
  • You collaborate across teams and business units inside throughout the entire organization
  • You are a mentor for other engineering leaders as well as engineers
  • You will support the decision-making process for make-or-buy decisions
  • You share your know-how, e.g., in the form of trainings, presentations or workshops, which you prepare yourself 
  • You will be an active voice in the 'Beats & Bytes’ tech leadership team
Your professional profile: 
  • You excel by your exceptional experience in designing, developing and operating business critical distributed systems at scale
  • You have the proven ability to drive technical changes in an environment of high technical and organizational complexity
  • You have a deep understanding and hands-on experience with a broad range of system architecture types
  • You are experienced in improving and challenging software engineering practices in mid-size organizations
  • You have experience in evaluating and introducing new technologies and architecture methodologies and patterns
  • You are able to contribute to business centric and deep technical discussions with senior stakeholders up to C-level
  • You have experience in developing senior engineering talents
  • You feel confident and natural reading, writing and speaking English; German skills are a plus
