Das könnte das Wochenende für The Weeknd werden. Am 22. Mai 2016 finden die hochkarätigen Billboard Awards statt. Bei denen könnte es für RnB-Star The Weeknd Preise wie Konfetti regnen. Denn er ist ganze 19 Mal nominiert und das in 16 Kategorien. Doch auch Hitmaker Drake mischt ganz oben mit. Seine Nominierungen sind elf an der Zahl, in zehn verschiedenen Kategorien. Dabei buhlen die beiden Urban-Talents um den Titel als “Top Artist”, “Top Male Artist” sowie “Top Hot 100 Artist” und “Top Song Sales Artist”. Und das sind nicht mal alle Kategorien, die sich die zwei Finalisten teilen. 

Mit seinem Album “Beauty Behind The Madness” ist The Weeknd außerdem für das beste RnB-Album nominiert. Vielleicht kann er ja an seine bisherigen Award-Erfolge bei den Grammys und JUNO Awards 2016 anknüpfen. Drake wiederum bringt mit “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” einen Kandidaten für die beste Rap-Platte ins Spiel. Bis zum großen Tag und der Entscheidung über Sieg oder Niederlage am 22. Mai 2016 drücken wir den zwei Ausnahmekünstlern die Daumen.
